In 1969, in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer launched the Monaco chronograph with a new and very different square shaped design. The TAG Heuer Monaco had a water-resistant square case - the first in watch making history - and housed the Chronomatic, the world’s first automatic chronograph movement with a micro rotor. Steve McQueen had empathy for this audacious, rebellious mens wristwatch, and in 1970 chose to wear it in the film “Le Mans”, dedicated to motor racing.
The current TAG Heuer Monaco range of mens wristwatches have lost none of their originality and the Monaco CW2111FC6177 still embodies the avant-garde spirit of TAG Heuer from the 1960s. The CW2111.FC6177 features a black crocodile strap and stainless steel casing and is effortlessly attractive with a warm wearable feel compared to some of the steel bracelet watches manufactured by TAG Heuer. The CW2111-FC6177 is also water resistant up to thirty meters (100ft) and features a slightly retro styled self winding automatic movement. The designer watch’s black dial is highlighted by the luminescent hands and markers.
This is a stylish edition to the TAG Heuer Monaco range of watches and as you would expect has a slightly more vintage retro feel than most of the other TAG Heuer range. The Monaco watch is on trend and is as much a fashionable collectable as an attractive functioning watch.
